Homemade Seed Bombs Recipe: Each seed bomb isn’t just a plant — it’s a tiny archive of heritage. Dropping one is like planting memory, nourishment, and community all at once.
Ingredients:
- Seeds: Choose native or heirloom seeds (wildflowers, herbs, or vegetables).
- Clay Powder: Natural clay or powdered clay (available at craft stores).
- Compost: Nutrient-rich compost or potting soil.
- Water: To moisten the mixture.
Instructions:
-
Mix Dry Ingredients:
- In a bowl, mix 1 part seeds, 3 parts clay powder, and 5 parts compost.
-
Add Water:
- Gradually add water to the dry mixture until it’s damp enough to hold together but not too wet. Mix thoroughly.
-
Form Balls:
- Take small amounts of the mixture and roll them into balls about the size of a marble (1 inch in diameter).
-
Dry:
- Place the seed balls on a tray and let them dry for 24-48 hours in a shaded area. Make sure they’re completely dry before storing them.
-
Pack and Store:
- Once dry, you can package them in paper bags or small containers, ready for planting or gifting.
Planting Instructions:
- When ready to plant, simply toss the seed bombs in a garden bed or bare soil. They will break down with rain, allowing the seeds to germinate and grow.
